Search "Higgsfield vs Magnific" and most results still describe Magnific as an upscaler. That's out of date: Freepik renamed itself Magnific, and magnific.ai now redirects to a full creative suite with image, video, audio and 3D tools, a stock library and its own image model.1 2 Higgsfield calls itself an "AI-native creative suite" too, built around video and social formats.3 Both now offer many of the same third-party models, so the old "upscaler vs video generator" framing no longer decides anything.
The short answer
- Pick Magnific if your work is images first: upscaling and finishing photos (its upscaler goes up to 16 times), design work that needs stock assets and Photoshop or Figma plugins, and credits that last a full year.
- Pick Higgsfield if your work is video first: cinematic clips, UGC-style avatars and social series from its studios, with monthly credits and "unlimited" use of some models on its own site.
- Test before you pay a year. Both change models and offers monthly. My test kit uses the same model on both platforms, so the difference you see is the platform's, not the model's.

Prices are as both sites showed them from France on 1 November 2026. Higgsfield states its prices exclude VAT;5 check your own region's page before buying. Credit counts aren't comparable across the two: each platform prices each model and length differently.
Where they really differ
What they were built for
Magnific's upscaler is where the name comes from: its Creative model adds texture and detail while two sliders control how much it invents and how close it stays to the original, and its models upscale up to 16 times.2 Around it, Magnific now has an image generator and editor, relighting, video generation and upscaling, audio, 3D and the stock library that Freepik was known for.1 Higgsfield's menu reads like a video studio: Cinema Studio, Lipsync Studio, effects, an AI influencer tool, marketing and ads studios, and Genjutsu, which turns one upload into many variations.3
How credits work
This is the most practical difference. Magnific sells a yearly pool of credits that stays valid for a year with no monthly reset, so a quiet month doesn't waste anything.4 Higgsfield gives credits per month and adds "unlimited" use of several models, more of them on Plus and Ultra. Two conditions matter: unlimited use and free generations work only on higgsfield.ai, not through its MCP, CLI, Canvas or Supercomputer, and unlimited usage may be slowed during busy periods.5
The same models on both
Both platforms list Google's Nano Banana Pro and ByteDance's Seedance 2.5, and both offer Kling for video.1 3 4 5 When you run the same model on both, the picture or clip should be close; what differs is the price in credits, the speed, the editing tools around it, and the licence. Magnific's paid plans name a commercial AI licence.4 That's why my test kit runs one shared model on both before trying each platform's own model.
What other reviewers say
Higgsfield. Hack'celeration's 2026 review scored it 3.6 out of 5: highest for features and depth (4.2), lowest for value for money (2.8). The 15 G2 user reviews summarised on that page praise the cinematic camera tools, the number of models in one place and the lip-sync studio, and flag credit-based pricing, slowdowns when servers are busy and occasional bugs.7 I left out the "reviews" Higgsfield publishes on its own subdomain.
Magnific. I have an account, so this side will come from my own runs: the same three tasks as on Higgsfield, recorded with the credits each one used.
How these claims hold up elsewhere
Comparison sites wrote about these two when they were different products. One roundup from earlier this year listed Higgsfield from $5 a month and described Freepik with 39 models.6 On 1 November 2026, Higgsfield's cheapest paid plan showed €19 a month billed yearly, and Freepik's pages had become Magnific's. Treat any Higgsfield or Magnific price older than a few months as a starting point, not a quote.
Test it on your own work
The test kit I've prepared uses three tasks, and you can copy it:
- Upscale a real photo 4 times with each platform's best upscaler, and compare skin, hair and edges at 100%.
- Make a blog hero image from one prompt with the same model on both (Nano Banana Pro is on both), then with each platform's own model (Soul on Higgsfield, Magnific One on Magnific).
- Turn that image into a five-second clip with the same video model on both, and note the credits each run used.
Record the credits, the time and the full output for each, and judge the pairs before you look at which platform made which.
FAQ
Is Magnific the same as Freepik?
Yes. Freepik renamed itself Magnific: its pages read "Freepik is now Magnific", and magnific.ai redirects to magnific.com, which hosts the whole suite including the stock library.
Is Higgsfield or Magnific better for video?
Higgsfield is built around video, with Cinema Studio, lip-sync, effects and social formats, and offers "unlimited" use of some video models on its higher plans. Magnific also generates, edits and upscales video, and both offer models such as Seedance and Kling. For a mostly-video workload, Higgsfield's tools are the more focused set.
Which is better for upscaling images?
Magnific: upscaling is where it started, its Creative upscaler lets you control how much detail it invents, and it reaches up to 16 times. Higgsfield has an upscale tool too, but upscaling isn't its focus.
How much do Higgsfield and Magnific cost?
As shown from France on 1 November 2026: Higgsfield from €19 a month billed yearly (Starter), €47 (Plus) and €99 (Ultra); Magnific from €12 a month billed annually (Premium), €27 (Premium+) and €66 (Pro Starter). Monthly billing costs more on both.
Can I use them from Claude or ChatGPT?
Yes. Both offer an MCP server. Magnific names Claude and ChatGPT; Higgsfield also has a ChatGPT plugin and a CLI. On Higgsfield, the "unlimited" models work only on its own website, not through the MCP.
Is Higgsfield worth it?
If you make short videos every week and one of its "unlimited" models covers most of your work, the Plus or Ultra plan can be good value. If you make a few clips a month, a yearly pool of credits elsewhere may waste less. Run the three tests above with one month before committing to a year.
